Happily Retired! She will speak about
"A Museum is Born: How the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston Came to be"
After retirement in 2008, her career took a 180-degree turn from science and engineering to the arts. She enrolled in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston docent training class and has been leading tour groups as a volunteer ever since. In 2024, the Museum celebrated its centennial; it was 100 years since its first building opened to the public. But the background story of the founders group and their activities prior to 1924 had never been diligently researched. Ever curious, she dove into the archives. As the details of this incredible story came to light, revealing it became a passion, so she set about putting it in a book. "A Museum is Born: How the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Came to be" was self-published in 2025.
